The “McDonald Kidathon 2025” kicked off with an opening ceremony led by Ms. Randy Lai, Chief Executive Officer of McDonald’s Hong Kong, and Ms. Grace Fung Oei Wai Chi, Global Board Member of Ronald McDonald House Charities® and Chairperson of RMHC® Hong Kong Board. They were joined by Ms. Chan Ching Han, Director and CEO of Commercial Radio Hong Kong, three-time “RMHC Hong Kong Ambassador” Keung To, and McDonald’s characters Ronald, Grimace, Birdie, and the Hamburglar – who made special appearances to celebrate this milestone year with runners.
Following the ceremony, RMHC Hong Kong Ambassador Keung To and flag bearer Ronald led a star-studded lineup of Commercial Radio hosts – including Siu Yee, Jim, Juven, Chuen, Ah Ching, Jan Lamb, Hei Jee, Sammy, Donald, Chapman, Jessica, Elsie, and 903 producer German – to officiate the race start. The group warmed up the crowd with a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday” to celebrate McDonald’s Hong Kong’s 50th anniversary before leading corporate teams and all participants to the starting line, embodying the spirit of “Run with Love, Run for the World.”
Ms. Randy Lai, CEO of McDonald’s Hong Kong, remarked: “As we celebrate McDonald’s 50 years in Hong Kong, we remain committed to walking alongside our community. As RMHC Hong Kong’s mission partner, we’ve raised over HK$95 million for the charity since 2024. With RMHC Hong Kong approaching its 30th anniversary next year, we hope for continued public support to help more families in need.”
Ms. Grace Fung Oei Wai Chi added: “Established in 1996 as Asia’s first Ronald McDonald House®, our two Hong Kong locations have operated smoothly thanks to McDonald’s unwavering support. As we prepare for our 30th anniversary, we look forward to expanding services for more families.”
