Celebrity Chef Lai Lok Yi’s Kitchen of Love: Cooking with Care, Spreading Community Warmth.
On May 23, RMHC Hong Kong hosted a Celebrity Charity Cooking Class, “Star Chef Lai Lok Yi’s Kitchen of Love,” at the Kwun Tong House. Devoted parent Lai Lok Yi led the event, guiding families with ill children in preparing healthy and delicious meals—Steamed Egg Custard with Baby Pumpkin and Steamed Chicken Thighs with Potatoes, Carrots and Mushrooms. The event symbolized community care and support through action.
The activity aimed to promote healthy eating habits while fostering connection and mutual support among families with ill children, ensuring parents don’t feel alone on their caregiving journey. RMHC Hong Kong CEO, Ms. Vera Chin, remarked: “I believe participating parents gained valuable insights. These simple and easy-to-make meals are perfect for busy parents coping with adversity. We hope this warm, nutritious meal serves not only as sustenance but also as emotional comfort.”
During the event, Lai Lok-yi not only demonstrated nutritious and straightforward recipes but also engaged with parents, cooking and sharing heartfelt moments together. He expressed his joy: “It’s a privilege to connect with these resilient parents. A child’s health is every parent’s biggest wish. I hope today’s activity brought relaxation, reduced stress, and showed parents the support and care of our community.”
The event was generously supported by Uni-China Group and Hong Kong Market, which provided ingredients and gift packs to express their support for families with ill children. Lai Lok-yi and the guests also selected the most outstanding “Heartfelt Dish” and took commemorative photos with all the families, creating a warm and memorable atmosphere.
RMHC Hong Kong will host a second session in June. Media are welcome to cover the heartwarming stories of the families at the House. Together, let’s raise public awareness about the well-being of ill children and their families, bringing them more support and hope.
