RMHC Hong Kong partnered with the popular local brand Cookies Quartet to organize the “Palmier Hearts, Baking Love Together” Palmier Baking Class on May 6 at the Kwun Tong House. The event featured celebrity actress Ali Lee, who joined several moms of children with critical illnesses to bake palmiers. Through this hands-on experience, the event aimed to spread care and warmth while adding a personal touch to Mother’s Day celebrations.
The event began with a representative from RMHC Hong Kong introducing the mission and services of the House, providing attendees with insight into the real needs of families on their medical journeys. Charlene Tse, founder of Cookies Quartet, expressed her commitment to combining baking with charity:
“With Mother’s Day approaching, seeing so many mothers and children gathering together to share love and warmth through baking is exactly what our brand strives for—connecting hearts through food and making a positive impact on society. I sincerely hope that families with ill children facing challenges receive more care and support.”
One highlight of the event was a live demonstration by Cookies Quartet’s Business Development Director, Mr. Appollo Lau, who showcased creative techniques to make “innovative palmiers,” inspiring the moms with new ideas. Afterward, Ali Lee joined the families to bake palmiers together, taking photos and sharing heartfelt conversations. She shared:
“This is my first visit to RMHC’s Kwun Tong House, and it feels so warm, just like home. While baking, many moms shared their daily lives with me, and I could sense how the House, along with its dedicated staff and volunteers, truly alleviates the stress of caring for sick children.”
To conclude the event, Charlene Tse and Ali Lee toured the Kwun Tong House, experiencing firsthand the comfort and support provided by this “home away from home.” A crowdfunding campaign was launched simultaneously, allowing the public to donate via the Cookies Quartet platform. All proceeds will go directly to RMHC Hong Kong to support local families with critically ill children, ensuring they receive timely and appropriate assistance during challenging times.
