Caring Teddy Hospitality Cart Program

The Hospitality Cart allows us to extend our support to meet the family needs and is always delivered with love and smile by our staff and volunteers.

We understand there are many children and families in hospitals that we are unable to serve at our House. Whether they are staying at the hospital overnight or waiting for their appointments, it can take a toll on the families. To extend our care to the families and help alleviate their stress, RMHC HK created the Caring Teddy Hospitality Cart program, hoping to make the long hours at the hospitals a little bit easier. To achieve our mission of creating and supporting programs that directly improve the health and well-being of the children, our Hospitality Cart program aims to show that long hours at the hospital can in fact be a positive experience.

Our Caring Teddy Hospitality Cart can be seen travelling around in the hospital visiting the children with our lovely Caring Teddy – designed by our volunteer who once stayed at RMHC HK! Caring Teddy acts as a companion for the children to brighten up their day, and to let them know they are never alone in this journey. The cart is filled with a variety of family-centered comfort items, thoughtfully designed to support children in their roads to recovery, such as Caring Teddy storybooks, educational games and drawing kits.

Join us as our Hospitality Cart volunteer to help spread joy to more families in need! Individuals who are interested must complete and provide all related documents below at own expense. Kindly sign up under “Regular Volunteer” and join our volunteer family!

Wah Wah was diagnosed with gastrointestinal hemangioma of tract when she was 5 months old. When Wah Wah was in the hospital for the first two months, her mom was anxious and worried and her dad could not go to work. The couple had to shuttle between their Tai Po home and the hospital every single day. Wah Wah’s sister, Kwan Kwan was nine years old by then. She felt more like an orphan as her parents’ attention was all on Wah Wah. With the existence of the Ronald McDonald House (RMH), their family life and relationship turned normal and better.

My son Ho Hin was diagnosed with medulloblastoma when he wasn't even one year old. I needed to start a long journey of treatment with him on my own because at that time my husband was working in the Mainland. Thankfully a social worker concerned our case and referred us to move into the Ronald McDonald Charities House®. Afterwards, my son suffered from another illness, and we moved into the House again.

Life is full of adversity. My two lovely daughters suffered from Thalassemia, which made me live in hardship for ten years in order to take care of them. Fortunately, we got chances to accommodate at the Ronald McDonald House®. It not only helped me take care of my daughters but also giving me a chance to talk to its staff members and volunteers when I was depressed and doing physical exercise to relax. Luckily, the pair eventually recovered.
