RMHC HK warmly held the third Celebrity Charity Cooking Class “Star Chef Lai Lok Yi’s Kitchen of Love” session on September 27, 2025. Timed with the Mid-Autumn Festival, the special “Mid-Autumn Love” themed event at Kwun Tong House featured an engaging snowskin mooncake workshop. Popular artist and devoted parent Lai Lok-yi returned to lead the activity, joining professional bakers from Garden Bakery in guiding families through the traditional yet healthy baking experience.
The event received full ingredient sponsorship from Uni-China Group, while Orchid Padaria not only provided expert guidance but also presented traditional mooncakes to every participant, extending festive blessings to each family. Additionally, long-term supporter BCT generously contributed HK$10,000 and sent 17 volunteers to help prepare dinner, allowing families to enjoy healthy meals while experiencing the warm care from the volunteer team and community.
During the activity, Lai Lok-yi shared his parenting journey with families, particularly emphasizing the importance of caregivers prioritizing their own physical and mental health while supporting their children’s treatment. He sincerely expressed, “Through the ‘Star Heartwarming Kitchen’ platform, we hope to provide respite for families during their demanding caregiving routines while helping them feel the blessings and support from our community.” Participating families reported that they not only learned healthy mooncake-making techniques but also experienced strong festive camaraderie in the warm atmosphere.
The “Star Chef Lai Lok Yi’s Kitchen of Love” series continues to dedicate itself to promoting healthy eating culture. Through various themed cooking experiences, it connects both new and existing families of Ronald McDonald House Charities Hong Kong, transmitting positive living attitudes. This Mid-Autumn special event further extended the purpose of the “Heartwarming Companions Program,” facilitating experience sharing and emotional support among families while allowing caring energy to continue circulating within the festive joy.
RMHC Hong Kong extends sincere gratitude to all partners, volunteers, and sponsoring organizations for their selfless contributions. It is this shared belief in walking together that makes the “home away from home” the warmest support for families with sick children. Moving forward, the Foundation will continue organizing more diverse activities to inject hope and strength into families facing medical challenges.
