The second annual “RMHC Homebound Adventurers Charity Orienteering Challenge & Carnival” successfully concluded on September 14, 2025 at Kwun Tong Aquabeat, drawing massive public participation in support of families with sick children.
The event commenced at 9:00 AM with an opening ceremony officiated by Professor Chan Chi-fung and Professor Cheung Yiu-fai, Board Members of RMHC Hong Kong; Mr. Hui Harlin, Chairman of Sëmk Products Limited and Founder of B.Duck; and Ms. Vera Chin, CEO of RMHC HK. Participants across six categories – Open, Student, Corporate, Inclusive, Family, and Dog, embarked on challenges throughout Kowloon East, experiencing firsthand the resilience demonstrated by families navigating medical journeys.
Ms. Grace Oei, RMHC Global Board of Trustees and RMHC Hong Kong Chairperson, emphasized during the awards ceremony: “This year’s theme ‘ Explore Every Step, Brighten Every Home’ reflects our commitment to helping families face challenges with courage, much like adventurers conquering unknown territories.” Secretary for Labour and Welfare Mr. Chris Sun, JP and Kwun Tong District Officer Mr. Ho Lap-kei presented awards to outstanding participants, celebrating their remarkable achievements.
The subsequent carnival, co-organized with Kwun Tong District Office, featured interactive games, workshops, and sports stations incorporating elements from the 15th National Games. Celebrity guests Mr. Lai Lok-yi and Ms. Christine Kuo engaged with families, sharing inspiring stories of recovery and hope. The popular character B. Duck made a special appearance alongside RMHC’s Home Fun Bear, adding joy to the meaningful event.
All proceeds from the orienteering race will support temporary accommodation and psychosocial services for families of hospitalized children, continuing RMHC’s mission to provide a “home away from home” during medical crises. The event successfully raised awareness about the challenges faced by sick children and their families while fostering community spirit through shared activities and celebrations.
RMHC HK extends heartfelt gratitude to all participants, volunteers, and partners who contributed to this meaningful initiative, helping create a more supportive environment for families facing medical challenges.
