It has been three years since I was first involved in the volunteering work of Ronald McDonald House Charities^® Hong Kong (RMHC HK). During this period of time, I had the opportunity to get to know a lot of children suffering serious illnesses and their families. There is a story of hardship and a grueling path behind each and every family that stayed at the House – some of them made me sigh, yet others tugged at my heartstrings and inspired me to be grateful for the wonders of life. Through my experience at RMHC HK, I did not only see the power of family and how it shines in the form of perseverance and compassion at times of difficulty, but was also propelled to embrace such spirit in my daily life. “Dear children, please remember to stay patient during treatment and find time to learn whenever possible to prepare for your return to school. It would be truly amazing to see you in your uniform and school bag soon!” Watching the kids jumping and running around was one of my happiest moments as a volunteer. I wish the children every success in their treatment and a speedy recovery such that they can return home. I will pray for every single child who stayed at the House. God bless.
