Keung Keung had a serious injury on his head while he was on the way to school in 2017. When he was sent to hospital, the doctors told his parents that it was not optimistic. The parents almost broke down but they never gave up. Keung Keung has been in a coma for three months. Fortunately, he regained consciousness after two brain surgeries and a social worker referred him to Ronald McDonald House Charities®
Hong Kong (RMHC Hong Kong).
Keung Keung faces difficulties in dysphagia, speech and mobility and needs to receive treatment from Prince of Wales Hospital every day. If he lives at home, he has to take more than an hour to go to hospital. As he grows and becomes heavier, his mom finds it hard to take care of him. Staying at RMHC Hong Kong, it takes only about 5 minutes to the hospital. The family can receive support when they are back at “Home”. Besides interest classes, parents in the House support each other. The most important of all is that they can stay close with their families every day.
Keung Keung was discharged from our “Home” but he and his family are still our beloved “family members”. He is making good progress in his recovery and joins our activities from time to time. Keeping families close and near the care they need is what we always do.
